Family Counseling

shutterstock_21754972IDEALS of Kentucky provides family counseling using the Relationship Enhancement® model (RE). It is often the solution when step-families are forming, there are issues among adult children about care of aging parents, post-divorce issues keep families at odds, or families which once were close have become spread out or alienated.

Except in the situation of step-family formation, RE Family Therapy tends to be only a single or a small number of sessions. Rather than methodically learn RE skills, family members are guided by the therapist to use skills as they need them, so serious issues may be resolved quickly, yet thoroughly. Family sessions may be scheduled on week-ends when everyone can come, as part of a larger family get-together, or on weekday evenings.

Family Therapy for Step-families usually begins with couple work, then expands to include children (and sometimes former spouses or extended family). Because each step-family situation is unique, plans for resolving each family’s issues are made individually.
