Individual Counseling

shutterstock_16174540Individual counseling at IDEALS of Kentucky generally follows a “client-centered” problem solving-skill training approach. Translated into ordinary language, that means we listen with empathy to help you identify issues and problems, then work with you to figure out solutions, teaching any skills needed to make those solutions work.

IDEALS of Kentucky puts a great deal of emphasis on resiliency in all its programs, but especially in individual counseling. Our research on resiliency over the past ten years leads us to believe that most therapy works best if it centers on strengths and client determined goals. It is a focus on the positive, even when there are serious issues or diagnoses, that enable people to overcome whatever is troubling them. Our counseling is practical and supportive, aimed at solving problems and learning new skills that enable issues to work themselves out.

Individual sessions usually last an hour and are provided on a sliding fee scale based on household income and how many people live there. We accept Humana and Anthem insurance.

Our sliding fee scale makes counseling affordable. Call to find out how much it would cost you. We can usually schedule an appointment within a few days. We can schedule an appointment in our offices in Frankfort at 306 West Main St. Suite 507 or in Lexington at 828 Lane Allen Road.

IDEALS of Kentucky does not provide medication or medication management. If medication is needed, we can make referrals.
