How do you make your life better? More satisfying? Happier? If you watch commercials on TV or look at ads in magazines, you will notice that promises of good relationships and good feelings about yourself are used to sell everything from SUV’s to laundry soap to beer to jeans.

Yet the truth of the matter is happiness is far more dependent on how much help you have with the laundry than it is on the brand of detergent. It is the quality of time together–the feelings you share, the commitment you feel–that makes a vacation memorable, not what you drove, wore, or drank.

And just as a personal enrichment class can help you enjoy scrapbooking or scuba diving, it can also help you have better relationships or a better sense of control over your own destiny.

IDEALS of Kentucky offers two workshops to enrich your life and your love.

Mastering the Mysteries of Love is a program for couples. Mastering the Magic of Play is a program for parents. Both workshops are in two parts.

The first part of Mastering the Mysteries of Love is held somewhere in Central Kentucky on a Saturday each month.  It is sponsored by the Bluegrass Healthy Marriage Initiative and the Bluegrass Healthy Marriage Partnership.

Mastering the Mysteries of Love teaches the 10 Relationship Enhancement Skills of Dr. Bernard Guerney. These skills have been shown in 27 research studies to help couples improve their relationship and solve problems. The workshop is appropriate for both couples who are having troubles and those who want to make a good thing better. Cost is only $15 per couple for the Saturday workshop.   Part 2 is provided at our offices at 306 West Main St in Frankfort on a second Saturday or over 4 evenings.   Click here for schedule and more information.

Mastering the Magic of Play uses play with children to develop emotional intelligence (EQ) in children and enhance parent-child relationships for children ages 3-10. It teaches 7 skills of the Filial programs of Dr. Louise Guerney. The workshop is appropriate for parents of children who have “symptoms” of distress, for families where there has been a separation, divorce, or remarriage, and for parents who want to increase their children’s emotional control. The skills are taught and practiced by parents in the Saturday workshop. Then children come to “play” with their parents during four  evening groups. The Saturday workshop is 9-4:00. The Wednesday evening workshops are 5-6:30 pm. Cost is $45 per parent for the entire program. Click here for schedule and more information.
