IDEALS of Kentucky is offering special summer training institutes, specifically aimed at graduate students in mental health disciplines, although anyone can attend. These training institutes are nearly FREE for mental health students and economical for full professionals.
You may attend one, two, or ALL the trainings.
Professionals who attend at least three days of workshops with CE credits will receive a copy of Dr. Rob Scuka’s book,
In May we will focus on Relationship Enhancement Therapy.
In June we will provide a one day training in Working with Stepfamilies and two days of training in Child-Centered Play Therapy.

Relationship Enhancement Therapy May 18, 24-26 9-4:30
Four days of training in Relationship Enhancement Therapy gives you a full understanding of the method and twelve hours of practice. Those who already know the eleven RE skills from Mastering the Mysteries of Love or other RE program do not need to attend RE Basics One: The Eleven Skills.
While professionals may attend one or two days of the RE therapy methods training, all three days, May 24-26, are highly recommended to fully use RE strategies in your practice.

RE Therapy Basics One: The 11 Skills for Therapists May 18
Learn the 11 RE skills in overview fashion. After a brief overview of the rationale for the eleven skills, each skill will be presented, demonstrated, and practiced. Each skill builds on the ones before. Two of the six hours of the workshop are hands-on practice. Workshop includes a copy of Mastering the Mysteries of Love. RE Therapy Basics Two: Starting Couples on a Different Path May 24
Learn how to start changing couple interaction patterns from the first few minutes of an intake session, how to help couples manage couples contain conflict, how to teach couples Empathy, Expression, and Discussion Skills, and how to coach initial dialogues. RE Therapy Basics Three: Creating Healing Conversations May 25
As couples dialogue about serious problems, learn how to help them use the RE dialogue process and the Experience Diagram to move from surface conflicts to vulnerable emotions and practical solutions they are invested in following. This workshop is mostly a day of practice, with participants alternately being therapist and clients in role plays around common couple issues. For more information, click here.
RE Special Skills for Couples in Crisis and Despair May 26
Move beyond the basics of RE therapy to special therapist empathic strategies to assist couples who are stonewalling, an inch from giving up on the relationship, or in intense crisis. Participants will practice role-plays around issues of an affair and a worn-out marriage. For more information, click here.
Ethical Issues When Working with Couples May 31 1-4:15 pm
This three hour workshop focuses on ten common therapist dilemmas when working with couples. Dilemma solutions will be evaluated in light of AAMFT ethical guidelines and a three point decision-making model. For more information, click here. This workshop is in Lexington at 828 Lane Allen Road.
