In Mastering the Mysteries of Successful Stepfamilies you will find effective communication and conflict resolution skills with highly recommended guidelines that help stepfamilies successfully navigate their complex issues. You will learn to communicate respectfully, make agreements you can keep, and rediscover your love for one another!
Nancy Landrum, in collaboration with Mary Ortwein and IDEALS of Kentucky, has adapted their popular Mastering the Mysteries of Love curriculum for use with stepfamilies. Nancy says, “We believe that a successful stepfamily is one in which the husband and wife are committed to learning and using effective communication skills with each other, their children and stepchildren. Their expectations are realistic. The marriage is strong and loving. The children feel safe, cared for and respected by the adults in their lives. It is an achievable goal!”
Nancy Landrum came to this project having personally experienced the unique stresses of stepfamily life. In addition to being ignorant about the dynamics of stepfamilies, she and her husband were sadly lacking in good communication and conflict resolution skills. It was a recipe for disaster and, as often happens, conflicts began to dominate their relationship.
They eventually learned to use better communication and conflict resolution skills and adjusted their expectations to fit stepfamily realities, but the process was long and agonizing for them and their children. What took them several years to find, is now available in one power-packed program: Mastering the Mysteries of Successfuly Stepfamilies. Classes include a variety of teaching methods, exercises and games with time to work out applications of the concepts to your unique family.
