Relationship Enhancement for Refugees and Immigrants was developed as a joint effort between IDEALS and the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI).  Participant materials have been developed in English, Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, Nepali, Burmese, and Somali.

The program is divided into three 8 hour modules.  The first two modules teach 10 RE skills and discuss topics of adjustment to America.  The third module combines RE skills with information about Money in America.

Some materials are available from the USCRI website: http://www.refugees.org/resources/for-refugees–immigrants/family-strengthening-resources/  The Leader’s Guide and English materials are available from IDEALS.  Individual participant books, in full color, are $12 for one, $10 each for 10 or more, $9 each for 20 or more, $8 each for 100 or more.  Leader’s Guides are available for $20 for the 8 hour version, $37 for all 24 hours.  They may be ordered by writing admin@skillswork.org or calling 502-227-0055.

Currently the program is being used in Erie, Pennsylvania, Burlington, Vermont, Albany, New York, Raleigh, North Carolina, Bowling Green, Kentucky, Kansas City, Missouri, and Glendale, California.

As part of the project, eight Trainers of Leaders for the Refugee Project are now ready to train leaders within refugee communities, workers who work with refugee and immigrant groups, and others who might also want to use this program.
